About BIOHYPO

The problem of the development of resistances, together with the possibility to prevent them, has been carefully considered by EC in the Biocides Directive 98/8/CE, a norm which oversees the protection of the environment, and harmonises the rules for placing on the market within the European Union any active substances and biocidal products.

Biocide ECOFF (epidemiological cut-off value)

The classification of bacterial strains as susceptible or resistant is based in two different approaches. The first is a pragmatic one: a bacterial strain is resistant to a given compound if the concentration of the drug be achieved at the point where the bacterium grows is not sufficient for inhibiting the growth of the microorganism.
